Daily devotional

Jesus was silent before its allegations, "like a lamb, which are removed at slaughter, like a sheep that is silent before those who mows it, so he opened not his mouth" (Isaiah 53:7). That does not mean that he has not talked at all. This means that he did not defend themselves. He said a few words, mainly to Pilate. First, he proclaimed that his kingdom was not of this world. So he acknowledged that he was a king, but of a different nature. Pilate's wife's dream confirmed what she knew, Jesus was righteous. Pilate himself had an instinctive aversion to judge this man, but the pressure against him keener.

What would like Herod? What would Rome say? It was a very sensitive issue. His career depended entirely on the emperor's favor. And by the way, he was only an intermediary, a man was to obey orders. But he could not get away. The responsibility was his. Only he could reconviction. Miserable high priests, they knew exactly where his weakness was.
